Geoff Fincher
Professor Geoff Fincher is the Deputy CEO of the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics and
chairs the ACPFG's Executive Management Group. His research interests include the biochemistry,
physiology and
molecular biology of enzymes involved in cell wall synthesis, re-modeling and degradation in
cereals. Functional genomics technologies are applied to studies of the growth and end-use
quality of cereals, and to abiotic stress tolerance in wheat and barley. Other activities
include the functional analysis of plant genes,
protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions, structural biology of plant proteins, protein
and carbohydrate chemistry, enzymology, plant cell wall biochemistry and cereal transformation.
He is also Director of
the Waite Campus and Professor of Plant Science at the University of Adelaide.
