AuPS HISTORICAL LECTURE/50th ANNIVERSARY COCKTAIL PARTY 18:30 – 21:00

University of Sydney

This meeting will be the 50th anniversary of the first meeting of the Australian Physiological and Pharmacological Society (APPS), as it was called until its name was changed to the Australian Physiological Society (AuPS). The first meeting of this society was also held in Sydney, on the main campus of the University of Sydney. To commemorate that occasion, there will be a seminar at the University of Sydney on Monday 1 February 2010, commencing at 6:30 pm in the Eastern Avenue Auditorium. The seminar will consist of lectures on the history of APPS and AuPS by two distinguished Honorary Members of the society, Emeritus Professor Paul Korner, who attended the first meeting of APPS in 1959, and Professor Uwe Proske, who has also had a long association with the society.

The seminar will conclude at 7:30 pm and will be followed by a cocktail party in the Anderson Stuart Building, which is a short walk from the Eastern Avenue Auditorium. It is planned to have on display in the Anderson Stuart Building, photographs and other memorabilia commemorating the history of APPS and AuPS, and of Australian physiology in general. Buses will be provided to transport conference registrants to the University of Sydney; they will depart from the Sydney Convention Centre at 6:00 pm.

Cost: $30 for full registrants and accompanying persons. $25 for student registrants (one ticket per student). Ticket cost includes cocktail party and bus transport from the Sydney Convention Centre. Transport is not supplied for the return trip.

Note: If you are not attending the conference, you can either ask a colleague who is attending the conference to book you a ticket as an accompanying person to the AuPS function, OR contact Cindy Guy (email: cindyg@physiol.usyd.edu.au) to purchase your ticket/s.
